Middle School Fundraiser
Sorry for the late notice, but I just found out this evening that the MS is having a spaghetti Dinner on February 7. It will be served on campus, I am not sure of the time. I know that it is take out or eat in before the community meeting that evening. The cost structure I was given was $7 for adults, $5 for students, $20 for a family of four, $25 for a family of five, and $30 for a family of six. You must purchase your tickets by Friday February 1st at the end of the school day. I am also under the impression that these funds will help them pay for their spring intersession to DC. Please contact any MS student to purchase your tickets.

Congratulations Pennie!
Pennie Ireland has been elected as President-Elect. She will serve as the MPTO President for the 2013-2014 school year. If you would like to serve on her board next year as Treasurer or Secretary please let the MPTO know at their next meeting February 13 @ 3:45pm in the Middle School Building or contact the current MPTO president Sheryl Wood @ woodinthehood@yahoo.com. They will also be looking for candidates for the President-Elect seat. The President-Elect serves as a year of training when that person steps into the role of president the next year. The office of Treasurer is a two year term. You must have been a member of the MPTO for 8 months and served as either a committee chair or room parent to serve as MPTO president-elect. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve the school.
Voting is an American right!
Ballots for the community elected BoT seat have been mailed. You should have yours no later than tomorrow. The community members in 06 fought hard to give us this voice in who will help manage of our school. Thursday at 7 p.m. the candidates will be on campus to meet and greet us. Please take the time to come out and meet them, so you can make an informed decision. Return your ballots to one of the boxes on campus.

Auction 2013
The Holidays are over, I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season! In case your student has not told you they have chosen a theme for this years basket. They want to do a sweets basket. Some ideas so far are, cookbooks, anything chocolate (candy bars, cake mixes, hot chocolate mix, gourmet candies such as Godiva, Toberlone, ETC) , baking pans and utensils. We are looking at designing a cookbook of our students favorite dessert recipes. I am sure everyone has an idea of what would be a great item for a sweets basket. If you have an idea and aren't sure please ask.

Dinner Theater
The 6th grade dinner theater will be November 1 at the First Baptist Church on Main st. in Washington.
We ask that 4th and 5th year families help with providing the items for the menu and attend to support the 6th year students.
6th year families are asked to help provide menu items also. The students need to wear white dress shirts/blouses, dark pants/skirts and comfortable shoes to serve.
The students will be working on the scenery and props over the next two weeks, if you have any artistic ability and would like to help them, it would be greatly appreciated.
6th year parents;
The 6th year students have been practicing their play. I must say I was very impressed this morning. They have chosen a local murder mystery/ghost story from the local history of Washington. Ask your student about their character and costume that may be needed.
